Our History

Summer Rep was founded in 1972 by “Uncle Frank” Zwolinski. Now led by Artistic Director, James Newman, Summer Rep grew from a summer theatre program that produced two productions each summer to the professional repertory theatre company that you see today. Repertory has always been important to the company as it truly showcases the talent of actors, technicians and designers.

Students and company members of Summer Rep are routinely featured on Broadway, in National tours, and on major television shows. Notable alumni include television and film star Benjamin Bratt, Broadway’s Jenn Colella, Grace Beyers of Fox’s Empire; and Thomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Group.
